We thank Edible Tulsa and all the voters for choosing us as the Best Non Profit in 2015. Locally sourced food is very important to us in providing healthy options to our customers. Getting to groceries is hard when you live in a food desert. It is even harder when you have mobility difficulties. We work diligently to ensure fresh, local produce is available on the mobile store. We source from many local farms including Shanks Farms and Southwood Farm, as well as grow food on our farm, R&G Family Farm located north of Tulsa. We also participate in Double Up Oklahoma providing matching free produce when a customer uses their SNAP card with us. We serve 17 locations each week, six days a week.
We also provide healthy prepared food to our customers using reclaimed food that would otherwise be thrown away. By gleaning produce from local farms and we ensure that it goes to feed people instead of being plowed into the field. We preserve much of it to be used at a later date. We also provide it to community partners to be given to those in need and use it for education programs and cooking demonstrations.
Edible Tulsa and all its staff is dedicated to all things locally produced and food security in our community. We are so proud to have been featured as one of Tulsa's Heros.
